Multiplex Introduces Tunable SFF 300 Pin MSA Transponders.

May 13, 2008 - South Plainfield, New Jersey, USA. Multiplex, Inc., a leading supplier of high speed optical components and subsystems, announces the introduction of industry-first Tunable EML (TEML) 300pin Small Form Factor SFF MSA transponders (16 channels at 100GHz, 32channels at 50GHz0 employing Multiplex Inc’s monolithic tunable laser with an integrated electro-absorption modulator in a single chip.

The tunable MTP 243 has the same footprint as the single channel SFF transponder and gives the system manufacturer a significant advantage in inventory, sparing requirements in the design of frequency agile networks.

The tunable MTP 243 features superior wavelength agility with low power consumption. The volume pricing is significantly lower than the LFF and SFF tunable transponders currently available int the industry, making it the first choice where power consumption, cost effectiveness and flexibility are required.

The Multiplex Tunable Transponder is available in volume quantities and is offered in LR (80Km) and IR (40Km) options.

All Multiplex Inc. SFF tunable transponders share the same foot-print as the standard Multiplex single channel SFF MSA transponders, with the same compactness, reliability, low power consumption, and ease of use. “All these features enable the efficient deployment of ROADM-based networks, explains Dan Meerovich, VP of Manufacturing Operations. “In addition, the small form factor makes it ideal for metro applications.” Contact Mike Robertson Director of Sales for further information. sales@multiplexinc.com.
